Our workshop

Our workshop

A look up at our workshop where we met Natacha, Corinne, Marie-Jeanne et Sylvie.

Natacha :

What do you do at Sessun?

My role at Sessun is to carefully check every sample before we start the manufacturing process to make sure that it will meet clients’ expectations. I check each sample the manufacturers send: the shape, the cut, the assembly, the seam finishes, the buttons, the snap fasteners, the labels etc. Every aspect must satisfy the specifications that are set out in our apparel tech packs.
During the collections, I also cut out the patterns for the new samples in the chosen fabrics that are then sewn together by our in-house seamstresses...

How did you come across Sessun?

Ever since I was a child I was mad about sewing. I started making my own clothes at the age of 12. I’m very grateful to Emma for taking me on, three years ago now, as I love the atmosphere in the design studio where beautiful fabrics are embellished. I really like my colleagues too. Everyone is very professional and we make a good team.

Which country would you love to visit?

I’m originally from the Ukraine and when I was young, France was the country I dreamed of going to. So I’m really happy to be living here and I love just discovering the different regions of France. As for countries I haven’t yet been to, I’d love to go to Japan and Canada.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love walking along the rocky coast near Marseilles or in the mountains. Nature inspires me and makes me feel calm. And I also take dance classes all year round.

Marie Jeanne :

What do you do at Sessun?

I am a sample machinist. I work with Corinne and Sylvie who are pattern cutters. Once a template has been created, it’s my job to make a prototype. I then work on the cut and the garment assembly. I then advise on the assembly details for manufacture. Also, we change the look of our boutiques twice a year so I help Alice to make new soft furnishings such as cushions, curtains, bench seats etc.

How did you come across Sessun?

I met Emma in 1997 when she came to visit the company I was working for at the time. I was in charge of assembling outsourced Sessun prototypes. Then our professional lives went different ways but a few years later I got back in touch with her and the rest is history.

Which country would you love to visit?

The US, especially New York..

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I’m quite sporty and I also like partying with my friends.

Corinne :

What do you do at Sessun?

I am a pattern cutter. I’m in charge of creating pattern templates based on Emma’s drawings and designs. I then follow the original design template all the way through to the manufacturing of the garment, which includes fitting, altering, grading, producing tech packs etc..

How did you come across Sessun?

I first met Emma a very long time ago in the early days of Sessun. Back then I was working for a design studio in Marseilles. A few years later I was looking for a job and I found out, through a mutual friend, that Emma was looking for a pattern cutter. And that’s when I started at Sessun. That was 15 years ago.

Which country would you love to visit?

I don’t really have a preference.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like any activity that involves being outdoors: walking, cycling, sailing…

Sylvie :

What do you do at Sessun?

My job is to make a template based on a drawing or a design, before it is put into manufacture. Then I do fittings to see whether we need to make any alterations, and once this is done the sample garment is then scaled-up or down to size.

How did you come across Sessun?

I met Emma 13 years ago thanks to people in common. I love the freedom Sessun allows to organise your working day as you like as long as you get the job finished on time.

Which country would you love to visit?

I’d love to go to Australia and see Mongolia on horseback. And any other big open wild spaces.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love travelling, reading, going to flea markets, swimming and discovering new things.
