Eye spy: a French label that’s nailing outerwear this winter

So yes, we've just managed to shake off winter and it's time to get back into shape and perhaps hide the hot chocolate in the back of the cupboard (even though you're hiding it from yourself - makes no sense, yet perfect sense at the same time). On the other hand, holiday season is coming up and maybe some of you are planning for a white Christmas? Who knows? Just in case, I've been keeping an eye on some great winter pieces for the funnest holiday possible.

For the northern hemisphere, my favourite wardrobe season has started. Autumn and winter finds me in my prime, zipping up, pom-pom-ing down, rugging up, and booting up... You just need to look for the overdressed eskimo in the crowd and that's me. Naturally, I'm drawn to things that are well made and won't look dated after one season; after all, we work hard for those dollar bills!

On my radar in the womenswear world, I've been delighted to see French label Sessùn coming forward with a super military-inspired outerwear collection. Think about heavy military coats in virgin wool, tailored to a super feminine shape to bring back elegance to the silhouette... And they didn't miss a beat in bringing the cable knit turtleneck back (respect). I have much admiration for those who swimming-pool-bomb into the deep end, like their knitted onesie this season worn below, that would be the most festive jumpsuit one could pull off without looking like the grinch who stole Christmas.

So here I've picked my personal favourites from the collection, styling them with my fishing gear and other fun things that you might find yourself using in the holiday season. This woman is all about the outdoors, living and breathing the best that our planet has to offer, leaving smartphones in the shadows. Exploration is about experience, as Christmas is reconnecting with ourselves and the people who mean most to us.

Above, I'm doing that radular onesie with Sessùn's cable knit turtleneck, Carhartt fishing hat, and W'menswear chore coat.

Bringing red riding hood to life, Sessùn transformed her into adult form with the softest black cape, worn here with their wool work jacket. The coat is paired with a canvas vest and fishing pant by W'menswear.

Sessùn included that iconic French marinière (boating stripes) in a knit this season, as seen here matched with their wool military pants, and a red neck scarf by Journal Standard. The look is completed with a classic red beanie by French heritage brand Saint-James, Sessùn coat, and matching knit scarf below.

Sessùn is available at The Standard Store, Sydney and Melbourne stores.
