It’s now the turn of Lucie, from the band Their Names, to share with us her musical selection. Singer, producer and Swedish DJ, Lucie grew up in the cosmopolitan cities of Stockholm, Paris, and Montreal. Her music is heavily influenced by the 90's, as well as musical genres, including jazz, hiphop, and soul. While Lucie’s DJ sets are a savvy blend of electronic music and disco-funk.
At the beginning of 2017, Their Names, the Franco-Swedish duo with 80's influences was founded by Max Future, who’s responsible for production (also co-founder of the group Concorde) and Lucie who is the songwriter and singer.
Having released their first video "Burning Star" directed by Romain Laurent in June 2017, the band plans to release their next single in September 2018 on the label Agent’s Doubles.
She has specially concocted a selection of music for Sessùn, her ideal playlist. She also agreed to answer a few questions.
Who are you?
I’m half-French, half-Swedish and have been living in Paris since 2003. I've been singing, producing and Dj-ing (mainly disco, trip-hop and soul) for a few years now. I joined up with Max FutureFuture in early 2017 to form the band Their Names.
What are you up to at the moment?
Right now, we are focusing on our upcoming Their Names tour and the release of our EP with Agents Doubles scheduled for September 2018. As for me personally, I often DJ on Rinse France and in various clubs in Paris. My next DJ gig is at the Silencio club on March 28th.
Tell us how you got to where you are
I grew up living between Montreal, Stockholm and Paris. I've always been passionate about music: making it, listening to it, learning about it. I’ve been working on my own trip-hop solo project for the past 2 years, as well as DJ-ing from time to time. More recently, Their Names produced a video clip in June 2017 for the release of our first single "Burning Star" directed by Romain Laurent. I'm only just starting out as an artist; I think that pretty much my whole career lies ahead.
